EOC Gives Legal Assistance in Disability Discrimination Case
22/08/2003
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has today (22 August 2003) issued legal proceedings under the Disability Discrimination Ordinance (DDO), Cap. 487 in the District Court on behalf of a man who was not offered employment on the ground of his color deficiency.
Granting legal assistance in this case serves to remind employers that refusing employment to a prospective employee simply on the ground of his disability and without properly assessing his ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the job is unlawful under the DDO.
