Following the announcement by the Hong Kong SAR Government on the appointments to the Women's Commission, the Equal Opportunities Commission's Chairperson, Ms. Anna WU said, "The creation of the Commission is a step forward to cover areas of women's concerns where needs are felt, in policy co-ordination and mainstreaming. The Commission has a significant role to play in the development and advancement of women in Hong Kong."

Ms. WU hoped that the Women's Commission would create impact, and become effective in co-ordinating the work of the different policy bureaux to succeed in mainstreaming women's needs.
