To join hands with the community to create an environment where there is no discrimination and no barriers to equal opportunities, the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) announced the launching of the second batch of its 1997/98 "Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities" tomorrow (9 August 1997). The programme will provide funding to community organizations for carrying out projects in promoting equal opportunities.

The EOC launched its first funding programme last year (1996/97), with very encouraging results. There are two batches for the funding programme in 1997/98, and the maximum funding for each project is $30,000. In the first batch of this funding programme, $450,000 were allocated to community organizations to promote the concepts and the ordinances related to equal opportunities.
