The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) announced today the appointment of Ms. Betty J.S. LIU as Head of the Commission's Promotion and Education Unit with immediate effect.

Ms. LIU comes from an extensive background in journalism and public affairs, having worked overseas and in Hong Kong. She began her career in broadcasting in Canada, and since her return to Hong Kong she has worked for Radio Television Hong Kong, TVB, and Cable TV. Prior to joining the EOC, Ms. LIU was Channel Manager of Cable TV's News channel. She received her education in Hong Kong and Canada.

"We are very delighted that Ms. LIU can join the EOC to head up the newly established Promotion and Education Unit. The EOC places great strategic importance on its education and advocacy role and Ms. LIU's background and professional experience will be extremely useful to our work in these areas," said Ms. Anna WU, Chairperson of the EOC.
