Racial Diversity & Inclusion Recruitment Fair (20 October 2024)

On 20 October, the Equal Opportunities Commission co-organised a Racial Diversity & Inclusion Recruitment Fair with the Federation of Hong Kong Ethnic Communities at Khalsa Diwan (Sikh Temple). The fair garnered the support of five Government Departments and 11 corporate organisations under our Racial Diversity & Inclusion Employer Charter network, offering over 500 job vacancies from 80 positions across different sectors, qualifications and levels.

We are grateful that Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Cheuk Wing Hing, SBS, JP, came to officiate the event, which doubled as the celebration for the 75th National Day of China and 15th Anniversary of the Implementation of RDO.

Our gratitude also extends to EOC Members, Dr Rizwan Ullah, MH, Dr Henry Shie, MH, The Hon Vincent Cheng, MH, JP, Miss Lily Chow, Mr Vishal Melwani and Dr Vincent Wong, for participating in the event.

This is a first-time initiative of the EOC to organise a job fair, which aims to change the stereotypical perception about the skills that our ethnically diverse communities can provide for the job market. We are encouraged to note that through the fair, many organisations have received a substantial number of qualified job applications from individuals representing diverse racial backgrounds. Job seekers also valued the opportunity to engage directly with companies, gaining deeper insights into their operations, and to receive personalised career advice from two recruitment firms.
