EOC celebrates International Migrants Day with NGOs

The 18th of December marked International Migrants Day. Echoing this year’s theme set by the United Nations, “Harnessing the Potential of Human Mobility”, the EOC joined Enrich HK, PathFinders, Resolve Foundation and Uplifters to roll out an online campaign featuring real and inspiring stories about the hard work and valuable contribution of migrants to Hong Kong.

In addition, on 19 December 2021, EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin attended the Celebration of Care Festival at Central Star Ferry Pier, jointly held by more than 10 community groups representing migrant domestic workers in the city.

Enjoying the performances and artworks showcased at the event, Mr Chu said, “Migrant workers not only make many of our lives easier by looking after children or elderly members in the family, but also contribute significantly to the local economy. We should take time to show them our gratitude and actively work together to eliminate prejudice and micro-aggressions against the community.”
