EOC launches Youth Ambassador Scheme

The 2022/23 Equal Opportunities Youth Ambassador Scheme is now open for application. A brand new initiative launched by the EOC, the programme offers a series of experiential activities designed to encourage tertiary students to learn more about the needs and aspirations of diverse communities, and inspire a future generation of leaders committed to promoting equality and inclusion in Hong Kong.

From November 2022 till March 2023, the ambassadors will get to play sports with athletes with disabilities, visit a mosque and a guide dog training centre, attend a talk about anti-discrimination laws, and find out how a company can benefit from hiring talents from different ethnic backgrounds. Mentoring activities are also in the pipeline.

All full-time students from any higher education institution in Hong Kong are eligible to apply. The ambassadors will be selected by a panel of four, including EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin, IDS; EOC Members Ms Rosanna CHOI and Ms Maisy HO, BBS; and Convenor of the EOC’s Community Participation and Publicity Committee, Mr Gary WONG, JP.

Ambassadors who finish the programme with a satisfactory attendance rate will receive a certificate issued by the EOC, as well as a written reference letter and a LinkedIn recommendation from EOC Chairperson.

Interested students should apply online with a short article (300-600 words) or video (2-5 minutes) outlining their views on equal opportunities in  Chinese or English. Application will close on 31 October 2022. For enquiries, please contact the EOC at 2511 8211 or youth@eoc.org.hk.
