On 28 September 2023, the EOC organised a seminar on media reporting of mental health in response to increasing media and public interest in mental health issues. The event, supported by the Advisory Committee on Mental Health and the Hong Kong News Executives’ Association, aimed to provide a platform for frontline journalists, editors, academics, health professionals and persons with mental illness to discuss media reporting on mental health issues. Additionally, it sought to share best practices for preventing the stigmatisation and stereotyping of persons with mental health needs or people in recovery. The seminar attracted around 100 participants.

In its submission to the Government on the 2023 Policy Address, the EOC put forth a range of recommendations aimed at providing increased support for persons with disabilities (PWDs), students with special educational needs (SEN), and the non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) population, among others.

The EOC has been honoured as a Good MPF Employer and granted the e-Contribution Award and MPF Support Award again for 2022-23, showing our continuous commitment to enhancing employees’ retirement benefits and full compliance with the MPF legislation.

The engagement of men and boys in achieving gender equality is of utmost importance. The Women’s Foundation is organising the Young Allies Programme, which seeks to cultivate a cohort of young men to actively advocate for gender equality. The EOC is one of the supporting partners of this initiative.
