EOC expresses concern over restaurant denying entry to a wheelchair user
In a press released published on 12 November 2024, the EOC expressed concerns over a recent incident in which a wheelchair user was denied entry into a restaurant.
EOC recognises premises with outstanding universal design features
On 1 November 2024, the EOC held an award presentation ceremony for the inaugural Universal Design Award Scheme, presenting 281 awards to premises that have made significant contributions in implementing universal design. Mr Erick TSANG Kwok-wai, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the HKSAR Government, was the Guest of Honour of the ceremony, and Dr James WONG Kong-tin, Chairperson of the Property Management Services Authority, delivered the closing speech. Approximately 300 guests attended the event, including EOC Members and representatives from supporting organisations and awarded premises.
EOC holds exchange with stakeholders in disability affairs from the Mainland
From 9 to 10 November 2024, the EOC participated in the Third Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Exchange Forum on Synergistic Promotion of Disability Rights and Services at Shenzhen University. The event was co-hosted by China Disability Research Society and Shenzhen University. The EOC was one of the supporting organisers.
EOC staff members recognised in The Ombudsman’s Awards 2024
The EOC is delighted to announce that two EOC staff members, Ms Adele LOK, Senior Equal Opportunities Officer (Complaint Services) and Ms Beverley CHEUNG, Equal Opportunities Officer (HR Development & Projects), have been honoured with Individual Awards in The Ombudsman’s Awards 2024. The recognition is a testament to their exceptional professionalism, dedicated service, and outstanding achievements. Witnessed by EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau and members of the management team, Ms Lok and Ms Cheung received their awards during the Presentation Ceremony held on 31 October 2024.
