The EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Funding Programme of Research Projects

10/03/2017

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has been promoting equal opportunities through its Funding Programme of Research Projects (the Funding Programme). Following the success of the first round of the Funding Programme in 2013/14, the EOC is launching the second round in 2017/18 to encourage eligible academics and organisations with inspiring ideas to undertake innovative research projects.

The Funding Programme 2017/18 is now open for application. The funded research projects would work towards eliminating discrimination on the grounds of sex, disability, family status and race, as well as promoting the principles of the four anti-discrimination ordinances. The EOC also welcomes research proposals focusing on various aspects of the Discrimination Law Review.

The Funding Programme 2017/18 will give preference to projects focusing on the following priority areas as outlined in the EOC’s strategic work plan:

• Pursue with the Government on the EOC’s Discrimination Law Review (DLR) and educate the public on the four anti-discrimination ordinances, including what the gaps are and gaining their support for the recommendations in the DLR and making their views known to the Government;
• Advocate education and employment opportunities and access to public services for ethnic minorities;
• Advocate education and employment opportunities and access to public services for persons with disabilities;
• Foster a friendly environment free from discrimination and harassment.

To be eligible, the applications should be submitted to the EOC on or before 5:00pm, 18 April 2017 (Tuesday).

To introduce the application guidelines and funding procedures, briefing sessions will be held for interested parties on 20 March 2017 and 23 March 2017 in Cantonese and English respectively.

Details of the Funding Programme, funding application form, and the briefing session enrolment form can be obtained from the EOC’s website.
