EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Funding Programme
24/07/2017
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) promotes equal opportunities through its Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities (Funding Programme). The EOC has supported over 1,000 projects by non-governmental organisations, community groups, and schools in the past 20 years to promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance through the Funding Programme.
The Funding Programme 2017/18 (2nd batch) is now open for application. It aims at encouraging eligible organisations to carry out projects which promote public understanding of equal opportunities. It is hoped that the funded projects would foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and encourage members of the public to put aside their prejudices, and support and apply the principles of equal opportunities in everyday life. To be eligible for funding, the applications should reach the EOC by 15 September 2017, and clearly state how the planned activities will promote equal opportunities, and/or foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and behaviors. The maximum funding limit of each project is $50,000.
To introduce the guidelines and application procedures of this Funding Programme, the EOC will organise two briefing sessions for interested organisations. One Cantonese and one English session will be held on 9 August and 16 August 2017 respectively.
Interested organisations can contact the EOC Office at 2511-8211, or may obtain details of the programme, funding application forms, and the briefing session enrolment form by visiting our website.
