EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Funding Programme

16/01/2018

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is to promote equal opportunities through its Community Participation Funding Programme.

The EOC has supported over 1,100 projects by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community groups, and schools in the past 21 years to promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance through the Community Participation Funding Programme.

The funding programme 2018/19 is now open for application. It aims at encouraging eligible organisations to carry out projects which promote public understanding of equal opportunities. It is hoped that the funded projects would foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and encourage members of the public to put aside their prejudices, and support and apply the principles of equal opportunities in everyday life. To be eligible for funding, applications should reach the EOC either by 9 March 2018 (1st batch) or by 14 September 2018 (2nd batch), clearly stating how the planned activities will promote equal opportunities, and/or foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and behaviours. The maximum funding limit of each project is $50,000.

To introduce the guidelines and application procedures of this funding programme, the EOC will organise two briefing sessions for interested organisations. One Cantonese and one English session will be held on 8 February and 13 February 2018 respectively at the EOC’s Wong Chuk Hang office.

Interested organisations can contact the EOC Office at 2511-8211, or may obtain details of the programme, funding application forms, and the briefing session enrolment form by visiting our website at http://www.eoc.org.hk > Publicity > Community Participation Funding Programme.
