EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Funding Programme

15/01/2019

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) promotes equal opportunities through its Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities.

The EOC has supported over 1,150 projects by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community groups, and schools in the past 22 years to promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance through the Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities. It is hoped that the funded projects would foster non-discriminatory attitudes and encourage members of the public to put aside their prejudices, and support and apply the principles of equal opportunities in everyday life.

The funding programme 2019/20 is now open for application. Applications should reach the EOC either by 15 March 2019 (1st batch) or by 20 September 2019 (2nd batch), clearly stating how the planned activities will promote equal opportunities, and/or foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and behaviours. The maximum funding limit of each project is $50,000.

To introduce the guidelines and application procedures of this funding programme, two briefing sessions for interested organisations will be held on Tuesday, 19 February and Thursday, 21 February 2019 in Cantonese and English respectively at the EOC’s Wong Chuk Hang office.

Interested organisations can contact the EOC Office at 2511-8211, or may obtain details of the programme, funding application forms, and the briefing session enrolment form by visiting our website at http://www.eoc.org.hk > Publicity > Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities.
