EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Funding Programme

22/01/2020

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) promotes inclusion and equal opportunities through its Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities.

The EOC has supported around 1,180 projects by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community groups, and schools in the past 23 years to promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance through the Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities. It is hoped that the funded projects would foster non-discriminatory attitudes and encourage members of the public to put aside their prejudices, and support and apply the principles of equal opportunities in everyday life.

The funding programme 2020/21 (1st batch) is now open for application. Applications should reach the EOC by 27 March 2020, clearly stating how the planned activities will promote equal opportunities, and/or foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and behaviours. The maximum funding limit of each project is $50,000.

To introduce the guidelines and application procedures of this funding programme, two briefing sessions for interested organisations will be held on Tuesday, 18 February at 4:00 p.m. and Thursday, 20 February 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Cantonese and English respectively at the EOC’s Wong Chuk Hang office.

Interested organisations can contact the EOC Office at 2511-8211, or may obtain details of the programme, funding application forms, and the briefing session enrolment form by visiting our website at http://www.eoc.org.hk > Publicity & Education > Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities.
