EOC Presents Awards to Winners of Anti-Sexual Harassment Sticker Competition

10/06/2022

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) today (10 June 2022) held an award ceremony of the “Equality and Respect: Stop Sexual Harassment” Sticker Design Competition 2022. Winners from the Open, and the Junior and Senior Secondary School categories were presented with awards by the Guest of Honour, Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Clement WOO Kin-man, MH, JP, at the event.

Welcoming the guests and awardees at the ceremony, EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin, IDS, said, “We would like to take this opportunity to applaud the efforts made by the awardees, and express my gratitude to all participants and participating schools for their enthusiastic support to the competition. Although the enrolment period fell under the fifth wave of COVID-19, we are glad to receive about 300 submissions. We are also thankful to the members of the assessment panel including our EOC Members, for devoting their time in adjudication work.”

With the growing popularity of stickers in day-to-day conversation on instant messaging applications, the EOC launched its first city-wide anti-sexual harassment sticker design competition from January to March this year. Under the theme of ‘Equality and Respect: Stop Sexual Harassment’, participants were encouraged to come up with sticker designs to raise public awareness and understanding of sexual harassment, and to help individuals understand how they can use their words and take action to promote a safe environment with respect and equality that is free of sexual harassment.

At today’s event, champions from the Open and Senior Secondary School categories were invited to share the creative concepts behind their works and the takeaways from joining the sticker competition. The teacher from the school which was awarded the Most Supportive School also shared at the ceremony the experience in carrying out anti-sexual harassment education at school. Winning entries were showcased at the event venue and they will be available on COMPASS, the EOC Anti-Sexual Harassment Resource Platform, after the ceremony for the public to download and use.

Members of the assessment panel of the sticker competition who attended the award ceremony are Dr Rizwan ULLAH, MH, Convenor of Policy, Research and Training Committee of the EOC; Mr Mohan DATWANI, Convenor of Legal and Complaints Committee of the EOC; Ms Rabi YIM Chor-pik, Deputy Convenor of Community Participation and Publicity Committee of the EOC; Mr CHONG Yiu-kwong, the then Deputy Convenor of Working Group on Anti-Sexual Harassment Campaign of the EOC; and Miss Julia SUN Wai-han, Member of Working Group on Anti-Sexual Harassment Campaign of the EOC.

The award ceremony of the “Equality and Respect: Stop Sexual Harassment” Sticker Design Competition 2022 is one of the programmes of the citywide awareness and promotional campaign “Equal Opportunities Month: Together for an Equal and Inclusive Hong Kong” launched by the EOC in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
