Equal Opportunities Commission Calls for Application for the 2023-24 Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities

07/08/2023

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) today (7 August 2023) announced that the 2023-24 Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities (Funding Programme) is open for application. The Funding Programme consists of two categories, namely “General Projects” and “Thematic Projects”, with a maximum amount of funding set at HK$100,000 and HK$150,000 respectively for each project. Interested parties are invited to submit their applications to the EOC on or before 19 September 2023.

Launched in 1997, the Funding Programme encourages non-profit organisations, charities and schools etc. to implement educational activities with an aim to enhance the public’s understanding of the four anti-discrimination ordinances – Sex Discrimination Ordinance, Disability Discrimination Ordinance, Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and Race Discrimination Ordinance – under the purview of the EOC and promote the values of equal opportunity, inclusion and diversity. To date, the Funding Programme has provided support to around 1 250 projects.

For the year 2023-24, the “Thematic Projects” category is open to projects focused on promoting one of the four themes to the public: preventing sexual harassment in the workplace, promoting accessibility and universal design, creating family- and breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, and fostering racial inclusion. Meanwhile, projects covering the four anti-discrimination ordinances are eligible to apply for funding in the “General Projects” category.

To provide interested organisations with a better understanding of the application process, application and funding requirements, the EOC will host two briefing sessions at the EOC office in Wong Chuk Hang. The session on 17 August 2023 will be conducted in English, while the session on 22 August 2023 will be conducted in Cantonese. Both sessions are now open for enrolment.

Further information on the briefing sessions and the enrolment form are now available on the EOC’s website. Members of the public can also download the Funding Programme’s Guidelines for Applications, Application Form and other related annexes from the EOC’s website. For enquiries, please contact the Corporate Communications Division at 2511 8211.
