Launch of "Equal Opportunities Through Your Eyes" Photo Exhibition

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) and Commercial Radio 1 today (6 August 2005) kicked off the "Equal Opportunities (EO) Through Your Eyes" Photo Exhibition to promote the concept of inclusion and acceptance of diversity.

The exhibition is held at Central Plaza, Wan Chai from 6-15 August 2005 and displays the "EO Through Your Eyes" Photo Competition's winning entries, which highlight gender equality, inclusion of persons with a disability and accommodations for persons with family status.

EOC Chairperson, Mr. Raymond Tang said, "The competition attracted an overwhelming response from members of the public. The winning photos saw aspiring photographers capture the essence of equal opportunities. Almost 600 entries were received, of which more than 40 entries came from overseas and mainland China. The enthusiastic participation in this photo competition has shown growing public awareness about different aspects of inclusion and diversity in our everyday life."

Mr. Tang continued, "We are proud to have enlisted so much public support to promote equal opportunities. Changing public attitudes involve the joint effort of the whole community. The EOC will continue to work closely with government and non-government organizations, and gather their support to enhance public awareness and understanding of equal opportunities concepts and the anti-discrimination legislation."

"We are indeed honoured to have the presence of five District Council Chairpersons as officiating guests to join us in spreading our messages to their districts. I would also like to thank our media partner, Commercial Radio 1, to bring the message of diversity and inclusion to radio listeners", Mr. Tang added.
