EOC Gives Legal Assistance in Disability Discrimination Case
23/09/2005
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has today (23 September 2005) issued legal proceedings under the Disability Discrimination Ordinance (DDO), Cap. 487 in the District Court on behalf of a woman who alleged that her former employer had discriminated against her by dismissing her on the ground of her disability of neurodermatitis.
The EOC has granted legal assistance in this case because it highlights an important principle of employers' obligations under the DDO to provide reasonable accommodation to employees who have a disability.
