The Equal Opportunities Commission Staged its Ninth Community Roadshow at Tuen Mun

The Equal Opportunities Commission staged a community roadshow today (22 July 2000) at Tuen Mun Town Plaza, Tuen Mun. The theme of the roadshow was "Equal Opportunities and Youth".
Mr. Michael CHAN, Director (Planning & Administration) of EOC; Mr. POON Chung-shing, Assistant Director of Education (Chief Inspector of Schools), Education Department; Mr. MOK Kim-wing, Outstanding Young Person of 1999; Mr. CHEUNG Kwok-chu, President of Hong Kong Social Workers' General Union; Mr. Paul WONG, President of Leo Club of Metropolitan HK officiated at the opening ceremony.
The highlight of today's roadshow was a panel discussion on "Equal Opportunities and Youth". All officiating guests participated in the discussion.
"We wish to reach out to the community to promote the work of the EOC and spread the message of equal opportunities," said Mr. Michael CHAN. "I hope the discussion today will raise the awareness of young people on the importance of equal opportunities. They are our future and I urge their support to help us create a fair and harmonious society where there is no discrimination."
In addition to the discussion session, the roadshow featured exhibitions, video presentations, quiz games and a "meet the public" session. The event was organized by the EOC in conjunction with the Leo Club of Metropolitan HK.
