Dr. Fanny Cheung Addresses the Changing Status of Women in Hong Kong

Dr. Fanny Cheung, Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission will give the keynote address at an international conference co-organized by Canada's North-South Institute and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Human Resources Development Working Group Network on Economic Development Management. Dr. Cheung will speak on "The Changing Status of Women in Hong Kong".
The International Conference, "Integrating Paid and Unpaid Work in Human Resources Policy", focuses on the demands on working women around the world. Researchers from nine APEC member economies (Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and the United States) will present findings on the links between paid and unpaid work in formulating policies on human resources.
Conference sessions will address family-friendly workplaces and flexibility issues; women's employment in the agricultural and informal sectors; and links between paid and unpaid work in macro-economic policy.
The full-day conference will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, May 8, 1999. Dr. Cheung will speak at 1:00 pm. A conference agenda is attached.
