EOC launches bus ad campaign “Fight the virus together as one human race”

On 8 April 2022, the EOC launched the bus advertising campaign, “Fight the virus together as one human race” as part of its year-long effort in promoting racial inclusion. Displayed on 50 buses along various routes for three weeks, the advertisements featured people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds wearing masks sewn by non-ethnic Chinese women under WEDO Global’s “We Mask Action” project.

Through the campaign, the EOC hopes to amplify the message of unity among diversity, and highlight the contribution of everyone in society to fighting the pandemic, regardless of race, gender and other attributes.

“Amid COVID-19, we have seen heightened prejudice against non-ethnic Chinese communities and migrant domestic workers, as well as backlashes against efforts in advancing racial equality,” said EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin. “There needs to be greater recognition of the hard work and sacrifices of these communities as they have contributed not only to the containment of the contagion, but also to Hong Kong’s social and economic development over the years. If anything else, the pandemic has taught us that we are all interconnected and the only way to overcome any obstacle is through coming together as a community.”
