EOC reached out to professional sectors at two Expos

In December 2022, the EOC participated in two exhibitions for the professional sectors to promote the importance of equal opportunities. The first one was Hong Kong International Dental Expo and Symposium (HKIDEAS), which was held from 2 to 4 December 2022 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). During the three-day Expo, the EOC highlighted how the anti-discrimination ordinances apply in the employment setting and the provision of goods, services and facilities, distributing over 1 700 promotional publications and 950 souvenirs to the visitors.

Over 83% of the respondents to the questionnaire (total 92) indicated that they or their organisations already adopted equal opportunity policies and/or measures in their organisations. Also, over 92% said they knew more about equal opportunities after visiting the EOC booth, with many showing strong interest in the EOC’s social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Immediately following the HKIDEAS, the EOC took part in the Learning and Teaching Expo 2022 held on 7-9 December 2022 at HKCEC. This was the second time the EOC participated in this event for the teaching profession, which offered a platform for education buyers, government, school leaders, teachers and educators in Hong Kong and the region to discover and source the latest developments in educational resources and learning technology. The EOC shared our range of resources for educators to spread the message of equality and inclusion both inside and outside of the classroom, such as our YouTube documentaries and an accompanying learning kit, as well as the Tally & friends storybook series.

Altogether the EOC distributed over 3 550 promotional publications and almost 2 900 souvenirs to the visitors during the Expo. Over 91% of the respondents to the questionnaire (total 216) indicated that they acquired more knowledge about equal opportunities after visiting the EOC booth. They also found the learning materials of the EOC useful, while over 470 followed/shared/liked the EOC’s social media platforms.

The EOC will continue to make use of other channels to reach out to the professional sectors, spreading the messages of diversity, equal opportunities and inclusion to different professions.
