EOC engages in exchanges and collaboration with organisations from the Greater Bay Area to advance disability affairs

The Fourth Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Exchange Forum on Synergistic Promotion of Disability Rights and Services (the Forum), co-hosted by the EOC, the Guangdong Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation, the Social Welfare Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and Shenzhen University, was held in Guangzhou from the afternoon of 7 December to 8 December 2025.

EOC gives legal assistance in a pregnancy discrimination and victimisation case

On 16 December 2025, the EOC filed legal proceedings under the Sex Discrimination Ordinance (Cap. 480) (“SDO”) in the District Court (Case number: DCEO 7 /2025) on behalf of a woman (the Claimant) who alleged that her former employer (the Respondent) had engaged in unlawful pregnancy discrimination and discrimination by way of victimisation.

The EOC has launched the Equal Opportunity Cup Inter-School Debate Competition 2025-2026 to provide opportunities for young people to deepen their understandings of equal opportunities.

EOC organises briefing session for Universal Design Award Scheme 2026/27

On 14 January 2026, the EOC will hold a briefing to encourage public- and private-sector organisations to participate in the Universal Design Award Scheme (UDAS) 2026/27. Open for applications until 31 March 2026, the Scheme aims to promote the wider adoption of universal design in Hong Kong by recognising organisations that have made significant contributions to creating accessible built environments and providing accessible services in public spaces, and by sharing their best practices.
