EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Newly Revamped Funding Programme

25/01/2022

Through the Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities,  the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has supported over 1,220 projects carried out by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community groups, and schools in the past 25 years to promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance. It is hoped that the funded projects would foster non-discriminatory attitudes and encourage members of the public to put aside their prejudices, and support and apply the principles of equal opportunities in everyday life.

The funding programme 2022-23 with new elements is now open for application. This year, the EOC introduced two categories of applications. The first one is for projects themed on equal opportunities with reference to one/or some of the priority work areas of the EOC strategic plan. The funding limit per project is HK$50,000. The other category is for large-scale projects that focus on any one of the specific themes under the anti-discrimination ordinances set by the EOC for the year. The funding limit per project is HK$150,000.

To introduce the guidelines and application procedures of this funding programme, two online briefing sessions for interested organisations will be held on Wednesday, 16 February and Friday, 18 February 2022 in Cantonese and English respectively.

Applications should reach the EOC by 25 March 2022.

Interested organisations can contact the EOC Office at 2511-8211, or may obtain details of the programme, funding application forms, and the briefing session enrolment form by visiting our website at https://www.eoc.org.hk > Events & Programmes > EOC Events > Community Participation Funding Programme.
