EOC Chairperson cautions against prejudice and discrimination amid fears of a COVID fifth wave

As Hong Kong braces itself for a fifth wave of COVID infections, EOC Chairperson, Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin published an article in Hong Kong Economic Journal and inmediahk.net, as well as a letter to the editor in The South China Morning Post this week, appealing to the public to avoid stigmatising individuals who have tested positive for the coronavirus, let alone the professions or communities they belong to.

EOC Community Participation Funding Programme

Thematic projects stand to receive maximum subsidy of HK$150K under EOC’s revamped funding programme

Applications are now open for the EOC’s Community Participation Funding Programme 2022-23. For the first time, the programme offers a maximum of HK$150,000 in funding to large-scale projects focused on one of several specified themes or issues, namely universal design; protection against breastfeeding discrimination and harassment; preventing sexual, disability or racial harassment; and family status.

Based on a variety of actual complaints conciliated by the EOC and cases legally assisted by the Commission, the publication has always served as an indispensable guide to Hong Kong’s anti-discrimination laws for employers, service providers and the public alike.
