Good afternoon everyone!

Thank you, Walter, for inviting me to this really exciting and meaningful event. It’s wonderful to see so many runners and sports fans here today, all ready to celebrate disability inclusion by actively participating in the CareER RunnERthon. This must be one of the best ways to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. I want to take this opportunity to commend you all for taking the time to show up and contribute to such a great cause.

The Equal Opportunities Commission has been a longstanding supporter of CareER’s work. Walter and his team have been leading the charge in showcasing the unique talent, skills, and passion of students and graduates with special education needs to the society as a whole. More and more people are now aware that disability inclusion is an issue that benefits not only people with disabilities but in fact everyone. Hence, all of us should play a role in breaking down barriers and creating an inclusive and accessible society. Just like the teams participating in the RunnERthon and the rowing challenge today, we can achieve great things together when we look to bring out the best in one another and work towards a common goal.

I’m very proud to say that the EOC, myself included, has also formed a team to participate in the RunnERthon. This shows that we don’t just talk the talk, but also walk the walk, or, to be more specific, run the run.

To conclude, I would like to wish all the participants the best of luck, and I hope you all enjoy a fantastic afternoon.
