Grace(香港社會服務聯會行政總裁陳文宜女士)、

I would now like to say a few words in English.

Over the past 45 years, TREATS has been at the forefront of expanding opportunities for children and young people of all backgrounds in Hong Kong and championing their interests. From serving children coming from grassroot families in its early years to promoting the inclusion of young people with special educational needs and those from diverse ethnic backgrounds, the breadth and depth of the work the organisation has done in the past 45 years is truly astonishing.

If I had to choose one word to encapsulate the impact of TREATS within our community and across Hong Kong society, it would be “kaleidoscopic”. In the field of sports, they were the first to introduce inclusive Kin Ball and sailing competitions in Hong Kong, while also expanding opportunities for young people of diverse abilities to experience the joy and excitement of different sports, such as rugby and dragon boat. Through professional training and various initiatives for students of all ages, they have made invaluable contributions to creating inclusive learning environments. Their work placement and mentorship programmes have also helped young people from diverse backgrounds gain self-confidence and find their paths as they enter employment. Just like a kaleidoscope, these initiatives have not only empowered many young people to shine individually, but also allowed the public to see their unique talents and skills, fostering a more vibrant and inclusive community.

It’s been a privilege for the EOC to be able to partner with TREATS over the years to advance the social inclusion of young people from diverse backgrounds. We look forward to continuing to work with the team to expand equal opportunities for the next generation. Congratulations once again on reaching this incredible milestone!
