Mainstreaming people with disabilities
Every year 3 December is observed as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) supports wholeheartedly. While attending a recent seminar on disability issues at a prestigious venue with advanced facilities, we were disheartened to see that a panel speaker using a wheelchair had to be carried to the stage because it had no ramp access.

Advancing Racial Equality - Doing the Right Thing at the Right Time
The task of advancing human rights rests with everyone in the community. Everyone has a role and each of us plays a part. In playing its part, it is appropriate for the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) to explain its role.

An Important Battle for Equal Education Opportunities to Children with Intellectual Disabilities
On 4 and 5 August this year, the EOC, in the capacity of an interested party, took part in the judicial review (HCAL73/2009) concerning the disputes about the upper age limit for students with intellectual disabilities in receiving secondary education.

Making a Difference
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is a statutory body established to administer all anti-discrimination legislation of Hong Kong. We strive to ensure redress to the people aggrieved by unlawful discriminatory acts or acts of harassment.

Where There is a Will, There is a Way
The announcement of half fares for people with disabilities by the MTR Corporation on 21 May 2009 is a significant step towards integrating people with disabilities into the community.
