Equal Opportunities Commission Invites Applications to its 1998/99 Funding Programme
To join hands with the community to create a society where there are no discrimination and no barriers to equal opportunities, the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) announced its 1998/99 "Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities" today (19 February 1998). The Funding Programme aims to encourage community organizations to carry out projects in promoting equal opportunities and eliminating discrimination on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, family status and disability.

Gazettal of the Code of Practice on Employment under the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance
The Code of Practice on Employment (the Code) under the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance (FSDO) is gazetted today (13 February 1998). The Code will be tabled before the Provisional Legislative Council (PLC) for negative vetting on 18 February 1998. If approved by the PLC, it is expected to come into effect by the end of March this year.

Launching of the First Equal Opportunities TV Docu-drama Series
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) announced a 1998 educational initiative today (26 January 1998). A series of TV docu-drama on discriminatory cases, titled "非 常 平 等 任 務 ", produced by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), will be broadcast on TVB Jade Channel on every Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting 1 February 1998.
