EOC Launches New Guides to Help Employers Prevent Sex Discrimination in Pay and Understand “Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value”
The EOC has developed a set of guidebooks to strengthen public understanding on the concepts of Equal Pay for Equal Work (EPEW) and Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value (EPEV), for the purpose of eliminating pay discrimination on the ground of gender.

The EOC Extends the Public Consultation Period for the Code of Practice on Employment under the Race Discrimination Ordinance
To provide further opportunities for stakeholders and members of the public to express their views, the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) extends the consultation period for the proposed Code of Practice on Employment (the Code) under the Race Discrimination Ordinance (RDO) until 19 January 2009.

EOC Statement on International Day of Disabled Persons
In supporting the United Nation’s International Day of Disabled Persons (3 December 2008), Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), Mr. Raymond TANG said, “2008 is a significant year in international human rights movement given the entry into force on 3 May of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which aimed at protecting the full and equal enjoyment of human rights and basic freedoms of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and integrating them as full members of society.”

In supporting the United Nations World AIDS Day (1 December 2008), Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), Mr. Raymond TANG said, “The HIV/AIDS pandemic presents one of the greatest medical and social challenges of our time. The fight against HIV/AIDS is more urgent than ever, with the pandemic continuing to grow and imposing a huge burden on millions of families and individuals worldwide. It is time for us as a community to draw on resources, focus our attention and assist those who are most vulnerable.”
